School Advisory Council
School Advisory Council (SAC)
Parents are encouraged to become involved in our school council. Elections are held for positions at the beginning of the school year. Many parents sit on committees that are organized by the council. Each classroom has a parent representative who attends SAC meetings and who is the liaison with the staff. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of each month, except December and June. Our first meeting of the year will be September 26. Please plan to attend. According to Board Policy, the role of the School Advisory Council shall be to:
a) Offer advice and consultation to the principal and the Board about any matter relevant to school operations.
b) Encourage greater parent participation in the education of their children.
c) Promote parent understanding regarding the education system and teaching and learning processes.
d) Provide parents with an organization for expressing their support for education.
e) Foster a total Catholic school community.
f) Work together to ensure the best possible Catholic education for students in the school and broader school community.
g) Provide input from parents in the development of the mission of the school and in the attainment of that mission.
h) Receive reports from the principal on the school program, general policies and organization of the school.
i) Receive reports and suggestions from parents and community groups on school-related matters.
The School Advisory Council is to support the Mission and Belief statements in promoting Catholic Education.
